Career Specialties

John Oruongo is interested in teaching how to perform data analysis and modeling to aid in management decision making. This includes using operations research, management science and statistics together with computer programming to gain insight into business problems and opportunities.

Professional and Community Activities

Oruongo is broadly interested in data analysis for risk modeling and management using operations management and statistics tools. Within this, he is particularly focused in researching ways to identify and mitigate risks in healthcare systems. He has a publication in the Journal of American Medical Directors Association that identifies different readmission risk profiles for patients, and he is working on a decision making framework to account these patient differences. He has also published about centers that deal with addiction treatment (Journal of Healthcare Quality).
