Career Specialties

Sarah Orban is a licensed clinical psychologist with research and clinical training in child clinical psychology. Her specific area of expertise is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

Professional and Community Activities

Orban's research interests focus on understanding cognitive difficulties in ADHD and how these difficulties can be translated into problems of daily living. Much of her prior research has focused on how executive function (i.e., higher order mental control processes) deficits impact academic performance in individuals with ADHD. For example, she is currently conducting a longitudinal study examining neurocognitive predictors of college success (e.g., graduation rates, GPAs) in students with ADHD. Her most recent publication, titled "Verbal memory interference in ADHD: A meta-analytic review" published in the Journal of Attention Disorders in 2022, examines the extent to which individuals with ADHD exhibit memory interference deficits through a meta-analytic review of 20 studies. She has also conducted a series of studies exploring the extent to which executive functions impact the experience of boredom in college students with ADHD.
