Career Specialties

Suchismita Dutta’s research and teaching explore race, representation and access in critical pedagogy. More broadly, she works at the intersections of writing in and across the disciplines, multimodal pedagogy and multiethnic literatures of the US.

Professional and Community Activities

Before coming to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, Dutta was the assistant director and a Marion Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech’s writing and communication program.

Her scholarly publications and presentations explore topics like inclusive teaching practices, multimodal pedagogy, critical ethnic studies and American Studies. She has presented her scholarly work at national and regional conferences like MLA, CCCC, SAMLA, DHSI, Canada. She has also published papers at venues like [Inter]Sections: The American Studies Journal and Impact Journal. The full list of her scholarly work is available on her CV.

Dutta was a part of a team that received the 2023 Affordable Learning Georgia grant and subsequently, served as the project manager for the open access version of the WovenText: Georgia Tech’s Writer Designer. She was also a faculty partner and co-investigator in the (PIT) for First-Year Engineers Project, a multidisciplinary project (funded by the GT-AMP grant of $90,000) that aims to use PIT in interdisciplinary undergraduate writing courses to expand access to underrepresented and financially vulnerable students in tech-related fields. At the University of Miami, Dutta served as a digital humanities research assistant on theÌý, a digital humanities project funded by a $1.1 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that studies popular media discourses about the humanities using large data sets.
